    These are authentic handmade antique Afro-Seminole cloth dolls that were recently consigned to me by a friend from Florida who is trying to raise money to move from Thailand back to the United States. These dolls once belonged to his grandmother and have been in his family for decades. Afro-Seminoles (a.k.a. Black Seminoles) were escaped slaves who fled from South Carolina to Florida in the 17th century and were granted freedom by King Charles II of Spain and became part of the Spanish militia. Later, the freed slaves joined with the Seminole Tribe and became known as the Black Seminoles.
