    Description

This large, handsome Dudson Brothers sage green jasperware jardiniere is an elegant product of Edwardian England, reflecting the lavish lifestyle of the British aristocracy before World War I. It is sprigged in white with lion's heads subtending festoons of Grecian laurel (
    Laurus nobilis
), with a realistic laurel border below the rim. Along the baseline below the lion's heads are four small anecdotes after designs by Lady Templetown, including her designs for the "Bourbonnais Shepherd" and "Poor Maria."
The jardiniere stands 7-1/4” tall and is 8-5/8” in diameter at the top. The foot is 5” in diameter.  The inside is approximately 6-1/2” deep. The bottom is impressed “DUDSON BROTHERS HANLEY ENGLAND”, “S”, “V”, and a couple of horseshoe-shaped symbols. Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, scratches, or repairs.
