Vintage 1940 Ford steering wheel 1932 flathead hot rod '29 roadster SCTA Mercury

Description

Here is a vintage original 1940 Ford two-spoke steering wheel. These wheels have long been popular for custom/hot rod applications. It comes with the original (smooth) horn button. Ford used a few different designs on the horn buttons, depending on the model. The last six photos are for reference purposes only, with the first reference photo showing the "V8" horn button (that button I have listed separately in another auction). Also referenced is a Mercury horn button used on one of these Ford wheels in a '39 Merc... the 1939 and 1940 Mercury steering wheels were very similar looking to the '40 Ford. This wheel measures 17" in diameter... an original made in the good 'ol US of A back in the day. I don't believe the imported Drake reproductions are currently available, although the horn buttons are available new.
The overall condition looks pretty good for the age- clean and straight with no serious issues to note. The center hub/keyway is in solid shape. There's none of the typical age deterioration on the molded rim- only saw one (barely noticeable) hairline stress crack on one spoke near where it meets the rim. As-is it has a great looking patina perfect for that unrestored "barn-fresh" appearance on any vintage hot rod, custom or dry lakes racer.
NO RESERVE.

I OFFER MULTIPLE SHIPPING OPTIONS… so to see the best rate based to your zip code, click on "see details" where you see the single shipping cost listed above (right below where you place your bids at the top of this listing). Sometimes all options don’t always appear, so if you have any specific questions please ask. I generally try to use the most cost effective shipping method unless instructed otherwise.
** AFTER THE AUCTION IS OVER, PLEASE WAIT FOR THE INVOICE TO BE SENT BEFORE PAYING SO I CAN CALCULATE THE CORRECT SHIPPING COSTS.
**
I WILL STILL ACCEPT ANY FORMS OF PAYMENT AS ALLOWED BY EBAY.
**
TO SAVE ON SHIPPING COSTS I WILL COMBINE AUCTION WINS (WHEN POSSIBLE), BUT I DO ASK THAT PAYMENT BE SENT ASAP ON THE FIRST INVOICE AND ANY CHANGES WITH COMBINED SHIPPING COSTS WILL BE MADE ON SUBSEQUENT INVOICES.

I apologize for the following "fine print". I never bothered with this previously, but due to ebay's changes it has now become a necessary evil:
SHIPPING:
Ebay requires the shipping calculator to be included in all auctions. Please be aware that although the costs listed will in most instances be basically correct, these are not always accurate. Any significant differences up or down will be adjusted on the invoice after the auction has ended. The shipping costs listed here
ARE ESTIMATES ONLY
. The insurance cost can't be calculated until after the auction ends, as this fee is based on the final sale price.
DUE TO PAYPAL'S POLICIES, I REQUIRE INSURANCE ON ALL PACKAGES VALUED OVER .00, AS WELL AS DELIVERY SIGNATURES ON ALL PACKAGES VALUED AT 0.00 AND HIGHER. THESE ADDITIONAL FEES WILL BE ADDED WITH THE SHIPPING COST ON THE FINAL INVOICE.
INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS:
Ebay's new International Standard Delivery can save $$ on shipping costs, but it's slower surface shipping that can take longer for packages to arrive and the insurance coverage is also limited. NOTE: If the final sale price is over 0, ebay’s international shipping CANNOT be used as that is the limit of the insurance coverage. Please be aware that although both USPS first class and priority shipping may be listed in the calculator as well, all packages valued over will need to be insured and only priority packages can be sent with full insurance coverage. USPS first class (and Ebay International Standard Delivery) shipping is less expensive, and I will try to ship at the best rate possible, but often times the more expensive USPS priority rate is the only one available when full insurance coverage is needed.
