Butterscotch Egg Yolk Amber BAKELITE
Large Beads & Silver Tone Beads Necklace
161.7 Grams
approx. 28" long
weighs approx.  161.7 grams/  5.70 ounces
made up of 15 lovely oval shaped bakelite beads & 4 silver tone hand hammered beads in between each of the bakelite beads
strung on a thick string with a section of white thick almost plastic coated string in the back.
bakelite beads measures approx. 1" x 1".
there is no clasp, it easily slips over your head.
silver tone beads may possibly be steel as they have that patina and stick to a magnet.

when acquired, we were told they are African amber, well we know these are not amber, but maybe they were used as African trade beads or are they Art Deco?

There are some imperfections such as darkening on most of the beads edges where the steel beads meet them (see pics).  It is not noticeable when wearing them and it certainly does not take away from the beauty of this piece of art.
