    Description

    Carved & Marbled Green with Brown Bakelite with Brass Beads Choker Necklace
    Age: circa 1930-1940s
    Length: 16.25" x 1" w
    Total Weight of Necklace: 2.6 oz on the postal scale
    Tested positive with semichrome to be Bakelite.
    There are 28 semi-circular shaped move-able Bakelite pieces, which have faceted hand carved designs. Each of the Bakelite pieces is 1" length x 0.25"w. Each of the Bakelite pieces is 0.5" depth in the center and tapers to 1/8" depth at the top and bottom of each bakelite piece. The side that lays against the skin is flat, which enables the necklace to lay well around the neck. The spacers between the marbled green with brown color Bakelite pieces are yellow brass. The necklace closes with a circular clasp. This necklace is very comfortable to wear and frames the face well. The hand carved facets allow light to reflect off of the Bakelite in an unusual way. Notice in the pictures that the necklace can appear to be light green in direct sunlight and dark green when out of the direct sunlight.
    Good Vintage Condition:  The bale which is captured by the circular clasp is not original, and not actually a real bale. The necklace has two spacer beads which may have been replaced. One of these spacers appears silver in color and the other has a gold tone plate which is wearing off.
