This wonderful celluloid necklace from the 1930's - 40's has nine maple leaf charms in lipstick red with the original toggle clasp.  It's lightweight, yet resilient.  After all, it's stood the test of time!
A word about celluloid:  It was originally invented in 1855; however, it was not until 1927 when the compound was refined to reduce its flammability that this material could be used to create wonderful jewelry and accessories.  Celluloid can be buffed, polished, carved, and molded and comes in over 200 colors!  Care requires that it be stored in a dry place.  Avoid contact with perfumes, deodorants, and other chemicals.  (Source: "Collecting Art Plastic Jewelry" by Leigh Leshner)

SIZE~
This necklace measures 16" in length from tip to tip.  The individual charms are 1-1/8" x 1".
CONDITION~
This necklace is in Excellent Vintage Condition!  There are no missing or damaged elements.  There are no repairs or alterations.  Pre-loved, and ready to wear!
